GE Healthcare provides transformational medical technologies and services that are shaping a new age of patient care
Established in Cambodia since July 2007, GE has established strong partnerships in both the private and public sectors. The GE Foundation, through its signature program, Developing Health Globally™, has partnered with the Ministry of Health to upgrade hospitals with GE Healthcare medical equipment and build capacity through training and clinical skill building. This investment, which totals more than USD 6 million, is helping the government improve access to quality healthcare in underserved communities in both city and rural hospitals.
In October 2009, the GE Foundation commissioned the first three hospital upgrade projects in Cambodia, providing medical equipment (including mobile/fixed x-ray systems, ventilators, anesthesia systems, patient monitors, incubators and warmers), installation expertise, training and coaching support through a volunteer employee ambassador at each location to facilitate long-term best practice sharing, monitoring and capacity-building.
Today, the Developing Health Globally program has reached the National Pediatric Hospital, Kossamak National Hospital, Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital, Calmette Hospital, Kampong Speu Referral Hospital, Phnom Penh Municipal Referral Hospital and 23 additional provincial referral hospitals that treat thousands of patients throughout the country. To ensure sustainability, increasing attention is being devoted to biomedical training on proper use of the equipment, as well as biomedical maintenance and repair programs.
